After years of unprecedented speculation, industry-altering leaks, and constant community watch, Take-Two Interactive has finally locked in a more specific launch window for Grand Theft Auto VI.
The Official Announcement
During their latest quarterly earnings call, the parent company of Rockstar Games officially narrowed the release window from a broad “2025” target to a concrete Fall 2025 release slot. This has put an end to rumors suggesting potential delays into late 2026.
“We are highly confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience, and our expectations for the commercial impact of the title continue to increase.”
— Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive
What This Means for Players
A Fall release window aligns perfectly with Rockstar’s historical release patterns. Both Grand Theft Auto V (September 2013) and Red Dead Redemption 2 (October 2018) launched in this sweet spot. This allows Rockstar to capitalize on the lucrative holiday shopping season while giving them maximum development headroom for final optimization.
Next-Gen Exclusivity
As confirmed previously, Grand Theft Auto VI will launch on Day One exclusively for next-gen consoles:
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X
- Xbox Series S
A PC release is expected to follow at a later date, typically 12 to 18 months following the console launch.
